The Uprising recalls and pays homage to the heroes and martyrs of the Jewish resistance that fought against the Nazi barbarianism on April 19th, 1943. In the episode that became known as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, men and women confined in the ghetto established in the capital of Poland combated and resisted the Nazi forces. They died battling instead of being taken to concentration camps.
Celebrated every year, the Uprising is a funding milestone of Casa do Povo since the announcement of its construction, back in 1946. The ceremony connects both past and present of the institution, always claiming for new ways of resistance and resilience in the present days. In response to the violence against native people, we invite representatives of the indigenous struggle for this 76th anniversary, so as to bring to surface the massacres and uprisings currently taking place in Brazil.
